The Designer drag-and-drop
interface allows designers to quickly lay out forms using the items
on the Designer palette. You can modify these items using the Properties
dialog box.
Resetting options or properties to default values
When you select an item, or drop an item into a form, its options are displayed in the Properties dialog. If you change a value in the Properties window, you can reset it to the default value.
Setting properties for multiple items
Each item in your form has various options that control its appearance and behavior (for example, the font of a text label, the action triggered by a button, and so on). You can set the common properties for multiple items for more efficient form design.
Showing advanced options
By default, the Properties view in the Advanced Designer perspective only shows the most commonly used options and does not show less commonly used, or advanced, options. The following instructions show you how to show the advanced options.
Sorting options in alphabetical order
By default, the Properties view displays the most commonly used options at the beginning of the list. You can arrange options alphabetically in the Advanced Designer perspective.
Showing or hiding categories
The categories in the Properties view of the Advanced Designer Perspective can be shown or hidden for ease of use.
Searching for options
The Properties tab contains all information on the items in your form and displays the properties for a selected item. The Find allows you to quickly find the option setting applied to a selected item.
Including tooltips in search parameters
You can change the quick Find option to search for Tooltips. This allows you to expand your search options in the Designer so that both visible text and tooltips are searched. This option is available in the Advanced Designer Perspective.
Copying an option setting from one item to another
You can copy an option setting from one item to another using the Advanced Designer Perspective. All options are displayed in the Properties window and can be copied between items.
